It is a single needle machine with a direct drive, an electronic feeding system, and an automatic thread trimmer. The direct-drive motor operates without a drive belt and can operate on lower power voltage than standard sewing machines.

Brother has adapted this machine with a new Digiflex system, this is an electronic feed control built into the machine. It is better than a normal control system because the digiflex has improved the reduction of needles breaking, very little to no material slippage, and still excellent results. Brother has also included a system that allows you to feed the fabric at a selected timing so that the needle won't break, even when using thick materials.
