Zipper Clip On Foot
Zipper Clip On Foot
A zipper clip-on foot, also known as a zipper presser foot or an adjustable zipper foot, is an attachment used with a sewing machine for installing zippers on garments and other sewing projects. This foot is designed to simplify the process of sewing zippers, making it more accurate and efficient.
Here's how to use a zipper clip-on foot:
Attach the zipper clip-on foot to your sewing machine, replacing the regular presser foot. Most clip-on feet are designed to easily snap on and off the presser foot holder.
Open the zipper and place one side of the zipper tape face down along the edge of the fabric where you want to insert the zipper.
The zipper clip-on foot typically has two sides, one for the left side of the zipper and one for the right. Select the appropriate side for the zipper you are installing and clip it onto the foot.
With the zipper foot in place, lower the foot onto the fabric and zipper tape, making sure that the needle lines up with the desired stitching position.
Start sewing, guiding the fabric and zipper tape through the machine. The narrow design of the zipper foot allows you to stitch very close to the zipper teeth, securing it to the fabric.
As you sew, be careful to keep the fabric and zipper tape aligned with the edge guide on the zipper foot to ensure straight and even stitching.
When you reach the end of the zipper, backstitch to secure the stitching.
Close the zipper, and you'll have a neatly installed zipper that is hidden within the fabric.
The zipper clip-on foot is an essential tool for sewing projects that involve zippers, as it allows you to sew close to the zipper teeth with precision, creating a clean and professional look. Whether you're working on clothing, bags, or other fabric items with zippers, this foot can make the process smoother and more efficient. It's particularly useful when sewing invisible or concealed zippers.
